"Brain Dance is an inspiring journey through the invisible injury of concussion and post-traumatic brain injury... I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to be inspired to overcome difficulties and set-backs in life. They can happen to any of us in an instant as this book illustrates."

  • “This is an extremely powerful and inspiring story that is so applicable right now. It is a solace to those that go through similar experiences and have trouble finding answers to their changes in behavior and emotions.

It is so hopeful to hear Diane’s story and know that others can relate and feel they are not alone.” — Maddie Girardi, PT, DPT, CMTPT, Physical Therapist, Chicago

  • This is the rare book that combines an understanding of treating traumatic brain injury with the story of having one. Loved the book. I’ll recommend it to all of my patients with lifealtering health issues. — Saul Rosenthal, PhD, BCB, BCB-HRV, BCN, Clinical Health Psychologist

  • Diane’s willingness to discuss the vulnerability inherent in recognizing your own degree of injury and how not only is it reasonable for you to be gentle and patient with yourself, but it’s also Very Reasonable to seek and receive both competent and kind care from your doctors and therapists, will hit home for many .

  • I resonated so much with TBI being a “stealthy, underrated injury that tricked me into thinking I was okay when I wasn’t”. Especially as women with invisible illnesses, being dismissed or labeled as being “too emotional” is so common and such an unwelcome consequence. So many people have experienced a head injury at some point in their lives whether to themselves or someone they know. Its so important for those survivors to know that they are not alone and that there is hope for them. Brain Dance is so moving as a fellow survivor of many traumas. We are so lucky to have you so accurately describe and shed light on these injuries and be such a strong advocate for others who have survived the same.

  • A very well written and compelling story of Diane Wilson’s journey with concussion. It’s surprising to learn how debilitating such an injury is because it’s largely invisible, long lasting and not well understood. This book contains a wealth of useful information about the brain and neuroscience, and how it can be used to treat TBI.

  • For all those with “unseen” illnesses or injuries, this book will show you that you are not alone. Diane Wilson does a masterful job of taking the reader inside the world of someone suffering from a traumatic brain injury.

  • I think this is a must read for clinicians, TBI clients and their friends and family. It is a very personal story which will help people understand what you and others go through. But it also includes references to science and science-based therapies that can be very helpful for people who have suffered such an injury.

  • I read Diane’s book with great pleasure. Dr. Elsa Baehr is my mother and I had the privilege of working for her for several years designing a brain training program. During this time I met Diane, my mother’s neurofeedback intern. Reading Brain Dance makes me appreciate Diane and her work even more. This journey to good brain health is an amazing read.

  • Brain Dance is a remarkable revelation of a book. Diane invites us along for an engaging, accessible, intimate and memorable journey of diagnosis and recovery — her wit and wonder always intact. Brain Dance, ultimately, is not only about the struggle to diagnose and recover from a traumatic brain injury. It is also a guide to  nurturing the resilience, perseverance and courage we need to dare to reinvent.

  • Diane’s story is as important for advancing medicine as the science she shares. She beautifully bridges the gaps in conventional care and turns her injury into an initiation into a new field and skills to help others.

  • With Brain Dance, Diane Wilson has written an exceptional book, a must-read for survivors of a brain injury, especially those with postconcussive syndrome, and their loved ones and medical providers  It  is important for clinicians to read Brain Dance and understand the nuances of the ‘invisible injury,’ which can present with varying and often life-altering symptoms. As Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation Psychology in one of the top rehabilitation hospitals in the country, I  will be strongly recommending this book.

  • Karin rated it it was amazing "Traumatic brain injury" and "page turner" aren't necessarily phrases you think of together. But Diane Wilson's story of her journey to understand her own injury (from a car accident) and how to recover from it is conversational, compelling, and even humorous at times. Learning so much about how our brains work was fascinating, and following Diane on her determined path to wellness was inspiring. An inspirational read.  Rated 5 stars

  • This is a captivating book, once I started reading it, I couldn’t put it down and finished in two days. Brain Dance is a frank and intimate account of one person’s heroic struggle to overcome one of the most commonly undiagnosed health problems in the US today. Diane Wilson explores the various emerging solutions to head trauma, especially neurofeedback, while revealing the many overlooked indicators in our daily life that may be pointing to an unsuspected and very real problem in many of our lives. Diane will help you better understand your symptoms and help you put together your own personal tool kit for traveling the road to recovery.
